Advanced SupraLASIK™ Laser Eye Surgery

About This Treatment

SupraLASIK procedure

Advanced SupraLASIK™ is a sophisticated form of laser vision correction that combines the benefits of surface ablation with a gentler, more precise approach. Unlike LASIK, no corneal flap is created, which significantly reduces the risk of dry eye and leaves the eye structurally intact — as strong after surgery as before.

The Schwind Amaris laser used at Imperial Healthcare is recognised by independent experts as among the highest standard in the world for refractive surgery. It incorporates wavefront-guided treatment, torsional eye tracking across three axes, and ablation at two energy levels — features unavailable on any other platform.

The procedure takes under 60 seconds per eye with virtually no contact with the eye itself. Patients typically return to work within 4–5 days. Once healed, the cornea shows almost no evidence of having had surgery — even on a corneal scan.

Key Benefits

No Flap — No Cut

SupraLASIK™ is not a surgical procedure in the conventional sense. No blade or laser is used to cut the cornea, making it one of the safest vision correction options available.

Enhanced Precision

The Schwind Amaris laser platform delivers highly accurate corneal reshaping with wavefront-guided customisation for superior visual outcomes.

Under 60 Seconds Per Eye

Virtually no contact with the eye during treatment. Patient feels no pain. The only sensation reported is the saline rinse used at the end to keep the cornea clean.

Wider Candidacy

Suitable for many patients not eligible for conventional LASIK due to thinner corneas or higher prescriptions.

Reduced Dry Eye Risk

Preserving corneal nerves by avoiding a flap incision significantly reduces post-treatment dry eye — one of the main complications of other LASIK types.

Lifetime Care Guarantee

We are so confident in SupraLASIK™ that we offer our patients lifetime care and ongoing support following their procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is SupraLASIK™?
SupraLASIK™ is a revolution in laser eye vision correction providing the highest level of safety with superior outcomes. It uses the Schwind Amaris excimer laser to reshape the cornea without any cutting or flap, correcting myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.
How is it different from LASIK, IntraLASIK or UltraLASIK?
The key distinction is that SupraLASIK™ is NOT a LASIK procedure — it does not create a corneal flap. All LASIK variants involve cutting the eye, either with a blade or laser. SupraLASIK™ corrects vision without any incision, conferring a much higher safety profile and completely avoiding the long-term risks associated with corneal flaps.
How is the procedure performed?
SupraLASIK™ is performed using the Schwind Amaris excimer laser. The laser gently removes the surface epithelium and reshapes the cornea beneath it. A protective contact lens is placed in the eye at the end and removed six days later. The entire treatment takes under 60 seconds per eye.
Does it hurt?
No. Anaesthetic eye drops are applied beforehand. Since there is no cutting and almost no physical contact with the eye, the procedure is very comfortable. The only sensation usually reported is the saline rinse used at the end.
How is it different from LASEK or PRK?
LASEK and PRK both require manual removal of the surface corneal layer, often using a chemical agent. SupraLASIK™ uses the laser itself to remove this layer — avoiding chemicals, scraping, and the associated healing complications. This speeds recovery and improves outcomes.
What is the recovery like?
During the first 48 hours, eyes may be watery and light-sensitive — it is best to rest at home during this period. The protective contact lens is removed on day 6, after which vision stabilises progressively. Around 50% of patients return to work on day 4, and almost 100% by day 5.
Will my eye be weaker after surgery?
No. Since no flap is created, your eye retains its structural integrity. It would respond to any future injury the same way it would have before the procedure. This is in contrast to LASIK flaps, which can theoretically be displaced even decades later by direct trauma.
What is the Lifetime Care Guarantee?
We are so confident in the accuracy of SupraLASIK™ that we provide our patients with lifetime care and ongoing support. Such re-treatments are rarely needed due to the high precision and stability of results.
