Chalazion Treatment & Diagnosis
You will be asked to report to the Out-Patients Department at Imperial Healthcare from where you will be escorted to the Eye Theatre Suite. Your eyelid will need to be numbed by an anesthetic injection to the area. This will sting initially, but the lid will soon become frozen.
The cyst is removed from the inside of the eyelid – no stitches are necessary, and no scar will be visible. Antibiotic ointment will then be applied, followed by an eye pad.
The pad may be removed after 2 hours, or left overnight for comfort, if felt necessary. You may be given ointment to use in the eye for 3-4 subsequent days.
Often the lid is bruised following the procedure – do not worry, this is normal and will resolve within 2 weeks.
Some people are prone to getting these lumps again. You can help prevent them from re-occurring by using hot compresses on the lids and massaging them in the morning.
Chalazion Excision Process
Imperial Healthcare in Dubai offers expert chalazion excision services to treat irritating eyelid bumps. A chalazion is commonly a non-painful red bump on the eye. It is caused by a clogged oil gland and can persist for weeks. If the chalazion remains it affects vision or causes discomfort. However, don’t worry our skilled ophthalmologist recommends chalazion excision. During this procedure, the area is numbed, and a small incision is made to drain the chalazion’s accumulated fluid. The procedure is last around 10 to 20 minutes.
Moreover, pre-op consultations cover details like medication disclosure to guarantee a smooth process. Post-surgery, recovery lasts about a week and may involve temporary side effects such as discomfort, bruising, and blurred vision. The incision’s location depends on the chalazion’s size, with dissolvable stitches closing it. Our ophthalmologist recommends cold compresses, antibiotic treatments, and lifestyle changes to boost healing and prevent infection.
Imperial Healthcare also specialises in comprehensive eye care, including eye doctor stye removal. Trust our experienced eye doctors for exceptional chalazion excisions in Dubai.
